Capstone Rural Health Center seeks a Psychologist to join the Capstone team. The ideal candidate is service orientated and culturally sensitive; provide
professional guidance, behavioral health assessments, and brief behavioral interventions as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team at a nurse-led
rural federally qualified health clinic implementing a collaborative, integrated primary care behavioral health model.
Qualifications: A doctoral degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology, including internship, completed by start date OR an official letter received documenting that all doctoral degree requirements have been met and specifying the graduation date and two (2) years of related work experience . Must be licensed as a Psychologist in the state of Alabama or immediately license-eligible. Preference will be given to individuals with advanced training in Clinical Health Psychology and/or experience in a primary care/integrated behavioral health setting. This position requires the ability to effectively interact and collaborate with interdisciplinary team members and rural community members, effective communication and writing skills, basic computer skills such as word processing, electronic health record, email, etc. and other typical office equipment, including the telephone.
Function as an essential member of the treatment team by providing professional expertise in integrated behavioral health care services to residents and their families.
Serve as a liaison between medicine and specialized mental/behavioral health care throughout the organization to contribute to the goal of providing integrated and focused quality mental health services.
Assess a client's needs, abilities or behavior using a variety of methods, including psychometric tests, interviews and direct observation of behavior.
Administer, score, and interpret psychological tests, including the PHQ-9 and SBIRT tools, in order to obtain information on individuals' mental health needs.
Collaborate in the development and implementation of an effective treatment plan and perform interventions according to this treatment plan and/or clinic policy.
Offer brief behavioral interventions for difficulties relating to mental health problems such as anxiety, depression, and substance use/abuse, social and interpersonal problems and challenging behavior.
Evaluate the effectiveness of counseling or treatments, and the accuracy and completeness of diagnoses, then modify plans and diagnoses as necessary.
Refer clients to other specialists, institutions, or support services as necessary.
Documents the clinical behavioral health aspect of patient interventions in medical records and tracks the patient referrals to specialty behavioral health care per clinic policy.
Submit billing and copies of medical charts to appropriate parties in a timely manner and as requested per clinic policy.
Aid in the development, and direct and participate in training programs for psychology and nursing students specializing in rural behavioral health.
Maintain current knowledge of relevant research.

Setting: The Capstone Rural Health Center is a rural, nurse-led federally qualified health center that serves as a safety net primary care clinic for around 5,000 private insured, indigent, Medicare/Medicaid, and self-pay residents in and around Walker County, Alabama. Its mission is “To meet family health needs by providing high quality health and wellness services through a nurse-managed model.”
