Kim Prewitt, LPC, LCAS Behavioral Health Director
Kim Prewitt, LPC, CAC is a dedicated behavioral health professional with over 20 years of experience serving individuals with severe and persistent mental health conditions and co-occurring substance use disorders. Known for strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills, Kim has spent the last seven years in supervisory roles, developing high-performing teams and delivering quality, client-centered care.
Since 2015, Mrs. Prewitt served as the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Team Lead for A Caring Alternative, where she supervised a multidisciplinary team providing comprehensive services to 85 clients across rural North Carolina. This success ultimately led to the creation of an additional ACT team. Her clinical expertise includes psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT and CBTp for psychosis), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), trauma-focused interventions, and motivational interviewing.
In addition to their leadership role in community mental health, Mrs. Prewitt serves as an Adjunct Professor at Montreat College since 2019, teaching undergraduate and master’s-level courses in personality theory, assessments, group therapy, and crisis intervention.
Earlier in her career, Mrs. Prewitt worked as an Adult Protective Services Social Worker with Caldwell County Department of Social Services, where they investigated abuse, neglect, and exploitation cases, advocated for guardianship clients, coordinated care services, and developed individualized treatment plans using evidence-based practices.
Mrs. Prewitt holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology for Liberty University and Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Montreat College. She is a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist and Licensed Professional Counselor. In her spare time, Kim enjoys spending quality time with her family.
