Capstone Health seeks a Pharmacy Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate is service orientated, and patient driven, enjoys working with underserved patients and is culturally sensitive. Position Requirements
EDUCATION
1. Currently licensed as a Pharmacy Technician in the State of Alabama or eligible to be licensed. National Board Certification not required.
2. Must be at least 17 years old, as required by the Alabama Board of Pharmacy.
EXPERIENCE
1. Preferred at least one year of experience in a hospital or community pharmacy.
2. Demonstrate a reasonable understanding of medication classes and names (brand and generic).
3. Demonstrate communication skills with both clinical staff and patients.
4. Demonstrate understanding of laws governing pharmacy and the duties of pharmacy technician as outlined by the Alabama Board of Pharmacy.
Physical | Environmental
1. Be able to stand for extended periods of time.
2. Be able to lift 0-25lbs.
3. Be able to bend, kneel, twist, and/or climb stairs as job requires.
4. Normal accessibility and mobility throughout the region required.
5. Normal overtime/extended work hours.
6. Blood borne pathogens exposure.
Job Duties
- Under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, process, and fill prescriptions accurately and in a timely fashion.
- As appropriate/under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, answer patient questions concerning over the counter (OTC) medications and medical devices/equipment. Be able to communicate effectively with patients and clinical staff.
- Assist pharmacist in maintaining appropriate records for all patients as appropriate and in accordance with all governmental and regulatory standards.
