CAPSTONE HEALTH: TOP 2026 NATIONAL COMMUNITY HEALTH AWARDEE
Capstone Health receives recognition by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), as one of the nation's top-performing community health centers through the 2026 Community Health Quality Recognition (CHQR) program. Capstone Health is among the Top 20% Nationwide of health centers for its outstanding commitment to improving health outcomes and delivering high-quality, patient-centered care to rural and underserved communities.
As part of the 2026 CHQR program, Capstone Health received national recognition as a Public Health Champion in Diabetes Health, Heart Health, Preventive Health, and Advancing Health IT. These awards recognize health centers that demonstrate exceptional clinical quality, leverage innovative technology to enhance patient care, and improve access to comprehensive health services.
"These recognitions reflect the dedication of our providers, clinical teams, and staff who work every day to ensure our patients receive exceptional care," said Dr. F. David Jones, Executive Director of Capstone Health. "We are honored to be recognized nationally for our commitment to improving health outcomes and expanding access to quality care throughout our communities."
Capstone Health believes that quality, comprehensive health care should be accessible to everyone. The organization provides affordable primary care, preventive services, and wellness programs with a commitment to improving the health and well-being of individuals and families throughout Walker County, Winston County, and the surrounding communities.
Today, approximately 1,400 HRSA-supported health centers operate nearly 16,200 service sites. In 2025, health centers provided care for more than 32.4 million patients, 90% of whom had incomes below 200 percent of the Federal Poverty Guidelines.
